While running SEC in just water, I found good RT and peaks for my sample. Is it fine to run SEC in just water? What standards can I use with just water as mobile phase( most that I know of are run in buffered systems)

What kind of analyte/compound are you dealing with?
What about the matrix – if any?

Polyethyleneoxide standards are fine in straight water.

Then Uwe’s suggestion is no less than perfect.
I was thinking of proteins. In such a case, some buffering would have been advisable.
