Hi there,

Those people working with GCs, what are the best practices maintained by you for the GC?

Or let me say it in other words, any suggestions, recommendations or practices do you advise others to carryout for best performance and output of any kind of GC you use or might use?

Regards,
Alchemist
No matter what have you done .. you are still at the beginning :)

Alchemist,

In LC-GC magazine there is a separate part dedicated to gas chromatography, named "GC connections", edited by John V. Hinshaw

Using the following link you can access different articles about GC which may give you a proper answer to your question:

As always, catalogues are a good place to obtain free information, as are the manuals and www sites of the manufacturer of the instruments you use.

If you want a general view and guidance, I found an early edition of the following book very useful to have around.

A practical guide to the care, maintenance and troubleshooting of capillary gas chromatographic systems
By Dean Rood
4th Edition, 2007
Published by Wiley-VCH
ISBN 3527313737, 9783527313730

There are specialist books ( which tend to cost more ) , on components and theory, but for a general hands-on text for novices, the above is useful if you want to spend some money, rather than hunt around the WWW, manuals, and catalogues..

Please keep having fun,

Bruce Hamilton
Appreciated dears
