I was wondering if anyone could recommend a high temperature solvent for head space GC. The compound i am trying to analyze has a boiling point higher (216 deg C) than most conventional high temperature solvents (DMSO, DMF, NMP, DMA, DMI). I was hoping someone might know of a solvent that I could use with a higher boiling point than my compound of interest and where i could order it. Thank you very much.

Anything with a BP that high is a poor candidate for equilibrium headspace analysis unless it is in high concentration, or there is something else about the samples that makes headspace the only option.

Hi
Generally agree with Peter. Have not tried it myself, but I have heard of people using PEG (Polyethyleneglycol bp >250°C) for some high boilers. If you try it be very careful and set high temperatures (loop, valves etc depending on system) so you not contaminate your system alt try manual injection to start with.
