I was asked to assay the stuff in the title, also called:
2-hydroxy-4-ethyl-2,3-dimethyl-delta3-pyrrolene-5-one
in human urine.

2 questions:
I didn't find the stuff in the Sigma catalogue. Can anybody tell me where I can find a standard ?

Does anybody have a more recent method than D.G. Irvine: Clin Chem 1978;24:2069-2070 ?
