I recently got an HP 5970B with a Balzers TCP 040 turbomolecular pump controller.

Sadly the TCP 040 doesn't start. It just emits a high-pitch noise for some tenths of a second and the control buttons flash up.

Otherwise nothing happens. What parts of the TCP 040 should be replaced in case of that error? :)

Alternatively I have a TCP 300 around. Is it a compatible replacement for the TCP 040?
