We just got an almost complete DX-500 system including the PeakNet5.21 software but the only thing missing is the controlling computer with the LAN Card. I installed the PeakNet on a computer running XP Pro and I also installed a LAN card with a BNC connector. I assigned the card to use NetBeui protocol but I can not seem to get PeakNet 5.2 to recognize the LAN card. I always get the following error:

"There is a problem loading the Dionex Driver. Please make sure that a protocol driver is attached to your Dionex Card thorough the Control panel"

Dionex phone support suggests that Peaknet 5.2 shouldn't even run on any OS above Win98 or Win 2000 which I don't necessarily believe since I run 5.1 on XP to control an older system (ACI) with no problems whatsoever!

Any help or ideas would be highly appreciated...

Sincerely,

Hakan
I was told by a knowledgeable DIONEX service rep that Peaknet 5.2 won't run in XP, but if he was wrong I'd love to know. We have WIN2K set up for this app and ONLY this app because we don't want to buy Chromeleon. I got the same error in XP when trying to assign the network card.
We had the exact same problem. If you need XP installed for other applications like we did, just install Virtual PC from Microsoft (free download from their website). This allows you to run a second operating system(Windows 2000) in on the same computer in a separate window. Within this window you install Peaknet 5.2. You can setup the network card and have the data stored to a shared folder that can also be accessed in the XP environment.

Dear Hakan,

I spoke with my engineer here in Australia regarding your problem, the error you are seeing maybe due to the fact your 3 com 3c900 or Netgear FA 310 (these are the preferred cards for DX-LAN communication) does not have the appropriate driver to communicate with PeakNet 5.2. I would also recommend you try to get hold of a patch for PeakNet 5.2. If you need any of these driver updates or patch we maybe able to talk off line and I can attempt to send them to you. When initializing these cards insure all modules are turned on and connected to the DX-LAN network. I would also check in the power up screen of each module to insure your BIOS is 30.00 or higher. Locally we have not gone above Windows 2000 for older versions of PeakNet 5.xx. PeakNet is getting really old its been discontinued for many years, and to be honest its been quite a while since I have used it myself and I have been with Dionex for decades I assure you. As such I offer this advice under the caveat of “all care and no responsibilityâ€
