The Agilent ELSD looks suspiciously like the Sedex ELSD. Does anyone know if the Agilent model is the Sedex model with an Agilent label on it!?

						how does it go?
if it looks like a duck,
walks like a duck,
quacks like a duck,
then it must be a duck

the "new" agilent ELSD is an OEM sedex 85 LT

Shimadzu and recently Agilent, and now Thermo all supply Sedex brand ELSD's.
Varian acquired Polymer Labs and now have an ELSD to supply with their LC instruments. You can still buy other non branded ELSD's from others (including Grace) but some systems may require an analogue to digital converter which are not cheap. The Grace ELSD does not require a converter when being attached to an Agilent system as we already have the drivers for the Agilent software.

How does Agilent manage the A/D for the Sedex system? Is there a lan connection to the ELSD now or do they still require the extra A/D box or do they use the RS232? Anybody?
I have a Sedex 85 for which I use the A/D box but it is a hassle to move the A/D around.
Thanks

You could upgrade your sedex85 (depend on the sn) to use it directly with Agilent Chemstation by the Rs232 cable present with your Sedex.
You will change Gain, Temp, Offset ect from Chemstation directly.
Upgrade means: new Firmware, new Powerboard and atleast Chemstation Version B
Hope useful

						Hi Tek,
Very useful. That is what I was hoping for. I'll call agilent and see if I can buy the firmware and board for an upgrade.
Thanks!
