Hello

I'm working on a gaschromatography project for school.
The ultimate goal is to analyze fuels for their octane levels.

I figured out how to use the GC and class-vp(integrator, actually only used as a recorder, since the GC is too old to be controlled by it) and i've been running some alkane mixtures to get to know the aparatus, but i'm not too sure how to go by the actual analasys.

But when I need to analyze a fuel sample, how do I do about this?

Should I just inject the fuel and take the area% as % indications?
How do i go about recognising components?
..

Sorry for the sloppy questions and lack of own input, but i'm finding it difficult to learn how to chromatograph without a real tutor

I've read alot about chromatography and I think I have some understanding but I have to admit I'm lost ..
