I suggest you go to the websites of the SPE Manufacturers Waters,Varian, Phenomenex etc. They provide documentation covering SPE theory and applications.

For example the Waters website (Waters.com) contains a Sample Preparation Primer (84 pages). these types of documents should provide you with the required information.
