Auxillary pressure in Agilent GC

Hello Everybody,

I have question on the auxillary pressure in Agilent GC.What is the exact role of auxillary pressure in GC, is it something to do with headspace analysis?

We have 2 Agilent GC systems in our lab, where one GC has set up for Auxillary pressure and other doesn't have the set up .

We are facing consistancy problems with the GC which is not having the auxillary pressure option. Is this a possibility for the inconsistancy because of auxillary pressure?

Otherwise can I setup the auxillary pressure myself?

The auxillary pressure control supplied on the Agilent 6890 may be used for many purposes. The customer usually has a special need for extra sources of pressure control. The auxillary pressure control normally has no direct connections with the inlets or detectors. Some of the things that it may be used for are as follows:

1. May be used to pressurize the vials in the Agilent Head Space Sampler.

2. Used as a pressure source in Deans switching.

3. Used a backflush pressure source in valving or Deans back flush.

4. Used as a pressure source in the Agilent column splitter.

5. Used in dilutors to make up calibration samples.

6. May be used as a flow source in a Gas Sample valve.

There are I am sure many more that other customers are using this for. It should not have any effect on your normal GC working. It depends entirely on your application.
