Perchloric acid in Aqueous phase for LC/MS ?!

hi,
is it possible to use a "buffer" with perchloric acid on a ESI LC/MS source ?, what are the concentration limitations of it ?

I assume you want to use perchloric acid in your mobile phase (not in the sample). If it is below 1mM then you can probably get away with it for a while. Personally, I would not use it in my LC/MS under any circumstances. Perchloric acid is strongly oxidizing, and not good for metal parts in your LC and MS.

Better to avoid it altogether. If you need a strong acid use TFA instead, otherwise formic acid...
