Hi,

I am using TEA+ Methanol solution for the derivatization of benzyl cloride . It is successful but I want to know what is role of TEA in this derivatization. Either it is use for neutralized HCl which is free from derivatization or it is worked as catalyst

Peeking in from vacation: It´s the scavenging of HCl you want here. The HCl could create an unfavorable equilibration.
