bottle should be made from inert glass. original glass container of the organic solvent may be used.

Dear rick1112,

Here is one, I hope, useful site for you:

Best wishes

hi
thanks a lot for your info....

For mobile phases up to one liter we use Duran bottles. For higher volumes we use bottles which are supplied with organic solvents (2,5L Fluka). The best way, how to remove labels, is to put bottles (without closure  ) into laboratory oven at 100-120°C. The label can be easily peeled off and rests of glue can be washed with hexane.

If you are using strongly acid or basic pH phases, ensure you thoroughly rinse the bottles to ensure leachable ions are removed. I prefer to ultrasonicate mobile phases, and so I rinse and ultrasonicate new bottles with acidic mobile phase before use.

Also, the standard Schott Duran polypropylene caps and pouring rings can be affected by solvents ( the rings swell and fall off ), so I prefer to purchase the Polybutyleneterephthalate ( PBT ) caps with PTFE faced silicone cap liner ( they are listed in Schott Duran catalogue ) and remove the pouring ring, but you can also purchase an ETFE pouring ring from Schott.

Please keep having fun,

Bruce Hamilton

and if I am not mistaken the Schott Duran bottles are sold in the US under the Corning/Pyrex brand (usually called media bottles). Kimble/Kimax is another choice.
And since we are already at it, bottle top caps for those bottles (with holes for tubing) are offered by Upchurch.

Personally, I like the two-neck bottles sold through Agilent, #5065-4421, so you can have the solvent line screw into the side fitting, and just top off solvent through the top without trying to juggle the solvent line. Takes standard GL45 thread caps, about $40-$45. They're 2-liter size, don't think they come in low actinic though.

Hi Rick1112,

I don't know you are from which part and organisation in India.

I have started using HPLC bottles from RANKEM. I hope you are aware about Rankem which was earlier part of Pharma Major Ranbaxy.
The HPLC bottles from Rankem is of Excellent Quality. And I love using quality product of company from Indian origin. You may contact them if your organisation buy other lab products from them.

Or else you can send sms so that Rankem executives contact you. Write "RANKEM" and send to 6161 in India.

You may visit http://www.rfcl.infor more information.

I hope this information is helpful for you in India.
