A request to those posting questions or problems

This forum is a fantastic resource for a practicing chromatographer, but it seems to me lately that there have been more than the usual number of posts asking for help which don't provide sufficient information about the problem at hand for those here to be of much help .

Where possible, please post in as much detail as you can about the problem you're having, the method you're using, whether it's a new (to you) method, system, column, etc... A rough idea of the analyte(s), matrix, and sample preparation always help. Pictures are always handy, too.

Specifics such as column dimensions, injection volumes, system volumes (if known), flow rates, and so forth can be very helpful.

This forum has quite a few knowledgeable and helpful chromatographers that can provide real insight into all manner of LC issues.

Help them help you!

I percieve that the second peak Tr = 2.4 min is the Vitamin A peak--retinyl palmitate. But what is the second peak? Is it possible that some oxidized or reduced form of the retinyl palmitate is it? Or is it jus a contaminant in the reagent? I have the image saved to my desktop--how do I get it to appear on this message screen?[/url]

I cannot use that web to post up my chromatograms b/c my employer has firewalled tinypic.com site--they said the site had nu*de pics and could possibly be DL'd to our in-house net. grrrrr! Any options?

I have used my personal internet account because it has some personal web space. You don't even need to set up a "web site" just upload the pics to the web space and remember the url.

Mark is right.

If you don't have space with your own ISP, do a Google search on 'free "image hosting"'; you'll turn up at least a half-dozen on the first page.

If you have a Google account, you can use their (free) Picasa photo editing program to upload images.

As I indicated in the "sticky", there's nothing sacred about tinypic. It was just the first site I tried, and it worked.
