Hi

I'm a novice at GC methods and would like some handy tips on what type of column would be appropiate in going from a packed GC column to a capillary column.
The packed GC column in my current method is a 3m long x 3mm internal diameter, 15% of Diethylene Glycol Succinate supported on chromosorb W (AW-DMCS, 60 to 80 mesh) can anyone recommend an equivalent capillary column??
any advice would be appreciated!
please email me on simstar75@yahoo.com.au
thanks

If you are using the packed DEGS column for fatty acid methyl esters, use a cyanopropyl silicone capillary such as Restek Rtx-2300 or Supelco SP-2300. These can go up to higher temperatures and are more stable to oxygen than are PEG wax columns which can give simlar separations. The 2300 are also way more stable and last longer than DEGS.
