HELP! Student research project on chromatography

Discussions about HPLC, CE, TLC, SFC, and other "liquid phase" separation techniques.

Hi all, I am new to the forum. I am a student at the University of Notre Dame and was recently assigned the task of researching some major manufacturers of chromatography media. I am primarily interested in ion exchange units.

In my search, so far, I have come across some companies such as Mall-Baker, Bio-Rad, and Pall. Are there any other companies that you guys purchase or use equipment from? What do you think of the ion exchange chromatography produced by Mall-Baker and Bio-Rad? Are there better companies out there??

Just looking for some information to get my research started. Anyone know any good links to chromatography industry news and events? I have a major major report on the topic due in several months and I have my work cut out for me. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Many vendors hang out at this forum, so you can expect to hear from them. My company, Dionex, makes quite a variety of ion-exchange columns for chromatography. www.dionex.com

if you have the access to the literature search engine, such as Web of Science, type in the compound you want to separate and "ion exchange", you will come up with an adquate number of papers. Just go through the papers briefly you will find out which column or brand is popular.

I am a user of ion exchange column, I agree that Dionex ion exchange column is one of the best on the market.

If your primary interest is ion-exchange, then your should certainly be looking at Rohm and Haas:

Hi!
I can add: GE Healthcare (formerly Amersham Biosciences) and maybe Polymerlabs (not sure about ion exchange?!). Everything else I can think of has already been named...

-Dow Chemicals (Dowex ion-exchange resins);
-Tosoh
-Shodex
-Hamilton Company

I just want to comment that you should not get confused about the differences between analytical chromatography and Process Scale.

Looking at the previous replies to this question, some of those vendors are only in the analytical market. Others sell in both markets - but very different "chromatography media".

Although the basic chemistry is the same, there are many differences - are you looking for a prepacked HPLC column or 100 Liters or more of resin?

Then the other question is, are you interested in biological / protein purification or water treatment or inorganic chemical process applications?
