I changed the diffusion pump fluid in my 5971 MS and am now getting a "diffusion pump too hot message". The fluid is pre-measured so the fluid level should be OK. Has anyone experienced this problem?

Have you checked the manual? You should find the answer in there.

There's a little electric fan back there for the diffusion pump, you should be able to feel warm air coming out through vents near there if it's working. I've replaced one before, believe it was on the similar 5972A MSD. For that, I just riveted in a fan of the same size into the existing aluminum mount as the Agilent ones are somewhat costly as they come with a fan and mountinging bracket as an assembly (assuming that they are still available from Agilent).
