I've been getting an error off and on with my LC10 Class VP system. I searched the boards for similar issues and didn't find any. Sporadically, when running our longest methods, the controller will develop a buffering error that causes communication to cease with the software/computer (EZStart 7.2) and crashes the entire run. Not a horrible problem, but it does annoy when it occurs. Has anyone seen anything similar and/or have a remedy?

Hi Tom,

Occassionally, the controller needs to be turned off and then on again. This clears the internal buffer. Also, the controller should be turned on last during the instrument power on sequence.

We run our machines typically about a week (almost everyday and overnight.....yep, these machines are quite robust) before encountering a buffering error. If your system is getting this problem within a day's usage, then I think you should talk to a Shimadzu technician directly.

This is just a thought.....make sure you have ample space on the computer's hard drive, especially if you are using a PDA to acquire data over a long run, and at a high sampling rate. You may also wish to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the ClassVP software (quite drastic here, but speak to Shimadzu first). Check that all connections are secure too. Otherwise, I think that pretty much point to a hardware problem....controller, dongle, scsi board, etc.

Not sure about EZStart but we had a problem with Class-VP where the System Controller was waiting for a signal from the computer that had, apparently, already been sent. The fix was to increase the delay time between the end of a run and when the system is ready to start the next one. For Class-VP, this is done in the CLASS-VP.INI file in the main Class-VP directory. Increasing the value after the statement SS420DELAY= to 3000, then saving the file, fixed our problem. I think this delay is in milliseconds so we didn't notice any increase in run time. Don't know if there is anything comperable in EZStart.

As I'm aware, the injection rinsing cycle takes between 3 to 4 minutes by default. So if you're doing a single injection, do not stop run after injection had occurred....at least until rinsing is finished. Otherwise, injector rinsing cycle will begin afresh. During this time, the system will wait.
