Hi all,
On our 6 years old Agilent 6460 we've had already multiple faults with MS Quad Drives - two in the first year under warranty, and then two times more. Now, we're having the same issue again.

The problem becomes evident when the MRM peak abundancies for _certain_ analytes start to fluctuate considerably, like for 10-30% and up to 500% and more, then you try to autotune the instrument and the autotune usually fails. It says for example "The Adjust Mass Axis failed: Delta outside the tolerance level." Even if you succeed, and do a check tune, it usually fails in a very short time after, like in a few days or even in a few hours.

If you try a manual tune, you may succeed, but it's not stable.

When the problem is even more pronounced, the quad drive cannot be dipped and has a very unstable mass axis adjustment. It can happen with either MS1 or MS2 quad drive. The problem is obviously so frequent that we even got a faulty new replacement Quad drive from Agilent(!).

It's definitely not a cheap part to replace AND it has only 3 months warranty!

Does anyone of you have a suggestion how to prevent this frequent malfunction that we've experienced or how to repair a MS quad drive?

Apart from that problem, it's a great instrument. Too bad the MS quad drive electronics are so unreliable.

Thanks for all suggestions,
Jurij
