We have a shimadzu GC model GC-4BPTF, can any one help to run this GC. Does anyone know anybody who has used this type of GC and if possible, is there any company left who can service it? (TCD will be used with the GC!)
If possible a step to step manual on where to start with such an old instrument would help, we have an old shimadzu manual, but being able to understand it from experience in using this GC would help even better! We are not too worried about the column but the actual GC gas inlets and outlets seem to be the problem!

Is Shimadzu refusing to support it?

"Unless your GC is in exceptionally good condition you are probably wasting
your time trying to work with such an ancient instrument. (30 years plus)
The GC-4 was probably faulty and un-repairable when it was put in storage
and time collecting dust and corroding will not have helped it.
Regrettably the GC you are working with is so old now we can not support it
as we can not get any parts for it or manuals for it.

We will help you if we can but there is probably very little we can do to
help. Do you have any of the manuals for the GC? Have you managed to connect
a column and gasses to it? What sort of column are you trying to use? Do you
have the fittings required?"

That's unfortunate.

Sorry I can't help. The oldest Shimadzu I ever used was an 8A.

Thank you, Anyway.
