Peaks due to system

Are you referring to the hardware of the HPLC system? If so, the possibilities are numerous. The most likely sources of peaks are contamination of the mobile phase filters in the solvent bottles and the injector or autosampler. All parts of the flow path in the pump(s), mixer, connecting tubing, and detector could also become contaminated. Most contamination is from the mobile phase and/or sample itself. A good place to look for information on this is LC.GC magazine. Check the archives.
