Dear DR :
Thanks. I did try the camera tool in Acrobat. But there are several PDF documents (and websites) that do not permit the use of that particular tool. One can copy text, but not images. Waters and Rheodyne are two examples.
I realise there are copyright issues involved, but I need such images solely for teaching chromatography, not for any other reason. I usually make do, by scanning images from textbooks and catalogs, or even drawing them using Paintbrush, but they're not comparable to a good JPG image, or an animated GIF.
As I found out the hard way, it's almost impossible to draw a Gaussian peak by hand!
That's why I turned to Chromforum for help. And thank you, you guys did give me some good ideas.
Dear Tom:
Thank you very much. Those two images are just what I needed. I will not forget to mention where I got them from.
While on the subject, I have been conducting training programs in HPLC since '94.
My programs vary a lot : entry-level programs for new chromatographers, method development, troubleshooting, and regulatory issues.
All my training programs have one common module though - a visit to the Chromforum website.
I make it a point to introduce each program participant to Chromforum. Invariably, they are pleasantly surprised that virtually every chromatographic problem they have faced has already been discussed in the forum.
After twenty years in chromatography, I get pleasantly surprised too! Every day, one comes across fascinating new problems in the forum, with equally fascinating answers to them. I put in my two penny's worth, when possible, but to me, a daily visit to the forum is more of a learning experience - and it's fun. Just plain fun.
I make my living from teaching chromatography, and Chromforum is a very useful teaching tool and technical resource.
So thanks again, to yourself, and to Chromforum.
