HPLC 1050 with 1100 DAD Detector

Dear friends,

I have got a HP 1050 with MWD detector. However, I would like to change to a DAD detector. I do have a 1100 Agilent DAD Detector.
The question is: Is it possible to connect the 1100 DAD Detector to a HP 1050 HPLC? How?

Yes, should be possible; we used 1100 RID on a 1050 system routinely until the pointy-haired boss decided 1050s were "too old" and got rid of them, so I had to connect that detector to Open Lab system every time I needed to use it...

I'm retired now, so working off memory. I think the 1100 DAD module must be connected to the system with GPIB, not LAN, and you'd need the 9-pin remote connector cable. You'd need to set up using Configuration Editor and the correct "code/address" for the 1100 module, then start up ChemStation. And of course you'd need to add the DAD module to the ChemStation software, with its 10-character license number.

What Windows and what Chemstation are you using?

I did it. The system recognized the DAD detector through GPIB and renote cable. Then I can inject a sample but at the Offline Instrument at Data Analysis, there is no Spectrum option for taking peak purity and so on. What should I do? I'm using the Chemstation a.10.02 in a Win XP OS.

Can you do everything you need in Data Analysis with Online Instrument ?
