I just purchased a collection of used Waters HPLC equipment including 2 501 pumps, 680 gradient controller, U6K injector, WISP 712, 431 conductivity detector, 464 electrochemical detector, 470 fluorescence detector, 484 TAD, and 486 TAD (tunable absorbance detector). I would like to get the pumps, U6K, and one of the TAD units working as soon as practical. The previous owner included what appears to be a new Restek Pinnacle II Biphenyl 5 um column (250 x 4.6 mm). Methods I am attempting to run were developed in early 1980s with columns such as Altex Ultrasphere C18.

I know I need all the help I can get. I went to Waters LC school before Waters moved to Milford. Vendors of consumable supplies, etc., are encouraged to contact me.

Hi John,

Wow...Restek should sell some of the spare parts that you will need to work with those components you list...some of them I'm not so sure about. I will ask around.

Thank you for your reply. Right now, I have the parts in hand from Sciencix in Minnesota. Right now objective is to get something running be 15 July. By something I mean both 501 pumps, the 680 gradient controller, u6K injector, a C18 column and one of the TAD detectors. Assuming that one of the TAD will work, the problems are finding an affordable c18 column, some sort of data system, and at least one cable to go from 680 to the second 501 pump. Amazon and e-bay seem to be best sources as some vendors get upset that my business is located in a lower floor of my residence.
