Chromeleon connection to TSP SpectraSystem

Does anyone have TSP SpectraSystem components connected to Chromeleon - particularly ver7.1 or 7.2? We have been trying to switch to Chromeleon for 3 years but have not been able to get legacy components to communicate. In 2013, Thermo came to the lab to try this with ver 6.8 and they were unsuccessful. They have continued to assure us that this is possible but it has not been demonstrated and now we are up to ver 7.2 with Windows 7 and it seems even less likely.

Please Help. If you have pictures, wiring diagrams, printed instructions, please share them because no one at Thermo has been able to do it.

I really don't who has tried to connect a TSP Spectra System to Chromeleon 6 or 7 without being successful . However, we installed and qualified about 100 such systems at a large pharmaceutical company worldwide with Chromeleon 6. I know what i'm talking about. Have a look at the "list of supported instrument" of the relevant Chromeleon version, check the firmware of each module and use the recommended serial port expander with the recommended cables. All needed items are named and described in the Chromeleon Help. There are some drawbacks when using this old stuff; but it works fine if you are aware about this.

What exactly is the problem now? Do you have communication with the modules? Can you connect the instruments? Can you setup/change some paramters from the panel? What errors are shown in the auditrail?

Thanks for the quick reply. We have checked the firmware rev against the list and ours are appropriate. We have purchased the cable from Thermo and used the serial port on the computer (without expansion slots to isolate the problem). The P4000 can be controlled but it would not connect to the P2000, AS3000 or AS3500. It should be noted that we are using Windows 7 and have Chromeleon ver 7.2 installed.

Hmm... this sounds strange to me. Below are some additional info from the thelp screen:

Please also check for the Input Polarity option:

Pump Ready Active = HI
Inj Hold Active = LO

For the Output Polarity option:

Set all to LO.

Note: If Inj. Hold Active is set to HI, data acquisition cannot be started.

To control the oven and the sample tray cooler via Chromeleon:
Set the ColOven and TrayTemp properties to Off on the autosampler front panel (Menu > File > Edit > Injection).

When you install the autosampler and pump in Chromeleon, verify that the Start and Stop inputs are not connected. This will ensure error-free control of the module.

What are the information in the audit trail?

All of the setting for the autosamplers are correct.

We just received an email from our Thermo rep indicating the that the autosampler may need an older firmware rev. than is currently in it.
