I have recently attempted to update the firmware of two of our agilent gameboys (G1323B). The update process failed after about 10 minutes on each controller.

I now have no firmware installed and the controller hangs at the boot screen.

Is there any way to reset these controllers or do I have paperweights on my hands now? It seems to me that there ought to be a ROM chip of sorts on these controllers that contains some default firmware that I can boot this thing into.

Unfortunately, I don't have access to a PCMCIA card or reader...
Hello

It looks like you've lost communication with hand controller (gameboy).
You need "Firmware update tool" software (it is on Chemstation CD) and correct firmware revision for hand controller. You need to remember that firmware for detector (or any other module you're using to connect with PC) needs to be compatible with hand controller firmware. Otherwise you'll have problem like now, hand controller cannot see detector.
You need to find correct firmware set for your LC system (matrix compatibility is on Chemstation CD) and downgrade (or upgrade) your detector (or any other module you're using to communicate with PC) and then you'll be able to upgrade (or downgrade) your hand controller firmware to correct version.

Thank you for your reply.

The detector and all other modules of the 1100 HPLC are able to be seen by both the firmware upgrade tool and the CDS we are using.

I am unable to find the gameboy in the firmware update tool anymore. I have ensured that I have the "Support Control Module" checked in the firmware update tool.

We have a third controller that is also a G1323B gameboy that I was able to successfully update the firmware on. All of our HPLC (8 total) are running the same firmware. Our one working gameboy works with all LCs.

Is anyone aware of a way to factory reset these gameboys?
Hello

You need to set detector firmware to revision that allows you to see hand controller (downgrade/upgrade to compatibile version with gameboy). Then you should see that gameboy is in "resident firmware" and you will be able to load correct version.
Then you can downgrade/upgrade detector to firmware revision you have now.

I understand now...

Thank you so much for the clarification!
