Unknown Peak RRTs in Empower 2

I'm a moderately skilled user of Empower 2 and am running up against a wall regarding RRTs of unknown peaks. People I've asked in my lab/company say you have to manually identify the peaks (ie Peak 1, Peak 2, etc), then the RRT's show up in the report.

It would see a simple matter to set up a custom field in the report to simply divide the RT's of all detected/reported peaks by one identified as the "reference." I find it hard to fathom that this can't be accomplished in some way.

Lots of smart people out there, I'm sure. I can't the first to ponder this issue.

Thanks.

You can do it using a custom field as you mentioned. You can define the reference peak under CCalRef and then create a custom field that divides all other retention times (RT) by the CCalRef RT.

Dave
Define the reference as CCalRef1 as noted above... Empower has a default peak filed called "RT Ratio" that calculates what you need. No need to create an additional custom field to get this done for you.

Didn't work for me. No RRT's for unidentified peaks. I'll poke around a bit and see if I missed something.

To get the RRT's to show, you do need to name this peaks in the PM.

If you do not desire to name your unknowns in the PM, then you also need to check the "Default Pk" box in the component tab of the PM that corresponds to your reference.

If you are not using Empower's built in custom field, then you need to ensure that your custom filed is running for all peak types and is not limited to "Found Only".
Bingo! That did it. Thanks for the help.
