Turn off PDA 2996 detector

Discussions about HPLC, CE, TLC, SFC, and other "liquid phase" separation techniques.

Hi everybody,

We run HPLC samples under Empower Pro 2 software, with an Alliance Waters 2695 Separation Module, with a Waters 2996 photodiode array detector.

Well, the issue is that we'd like to know how to program an instrument method to turn off the lamp automatically after finishing the quickset to save lamp life.

Any suggerence would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
Make a shutdown method.

Rename an existing or make a new instrument method named "shutdown". Under the PDA's tab under events, @ time 0 event out number should read "event lamp" and event should read "off".

If you want to taper the flow or turn off the pump you can set that too.

When you run a sample set method and hit start, there should be a dropdown menu for shutdown method, set that to method you just created.
Thank you very much for your quick answer, Mritari.

That's just what we did: new shutdown method with event lamp off, trying time 0, 1, 5... but it doesn't work at all turning off the lamp. Although it works well setting the flow to 0,2 mL/min. None of our 3 PDA seems to obey the turning off the lamp issue.

oops, we got the problem fixed:

there are some connectors in PDA rear's part that connect through wires to the Alliance system and controls the event signals.

That's a hardware issue.
hi jmsakines,

I working on the same issue. Could share which outputs from the alliance you connected to the which event in positions on the 2996.

I have managed to get empower shutdown to turn off my FLR detector, but not working for the 2996.

Thanks

What connections did you used? How you wired it?
