Have you rebooted or restarted your MS?
Hi Steve,

yes we rebooted and restarted the MS. We also un-installed the software and re-installed it. It still does not work...
The problem sounds familar to me. Is your installation based in the near of Nürnberg?
Hi Klaus,
do you have an idea what we could do?
I’m sorry. Meanwhile it was possible for me to access my collection of performed trouble-shooting. Unfortunately it is not comparable to your issue. Therefore I can give only general recommendations, since I don’t know your system.

Please check that the localization settings of the MS Windows OS is set to English (US). This was often an issue for several older Chemstation software packages. The month May is predestinated for such issues since the abbreviation differs in German and English for this month. But I’m really not aware how this is handled in more modern Chemstations.

Also if network connection is established there might be a problem. I would personally exclude this very first (since it is done quickly) with an exchange of switch, cables etc. with new ones or devices that are known that the work properly.

Sorry again for being not more helpful. But if you have more details e.g. about recently changes on the system please let us know.

Kind regards to the beautiful Salzburg
Klaus
Can you create a separate instrument configuration with just the GC? If that works it may be your MS if not it is something in your computer/system. Is the windows firewall off?
Have you tried using another computer?

We had a problem similar to this, that after a while it would not access the software. A reinstall would sometimes make it work for a day then it would occur again. We finally had to change computers and it worked fine then.

There was something in the files (DLL or similar) that was corrupted that would not allow MSDChemstation to run, but did not affect anything else and it was not updated by reinstalling the software. We moved the computer to an LC running LCChemstation and it worked fine ever since.

We have another computer that when you quantitate sample and use Qedit to review them you only can see about half the analytes. Look at the same sample on another computer and it is fine.

MSDChemstation can be very picky about the computers it is running on sometimes.
The past is there to guide us into the future, not to dwell in.
