hello,

what is the difference between a regular CTC headspace vs transfer line?
And is it possible to adopt a transfer line method to a regular headspace.

One mimics a manual method with a gas tight syringe the other uses a loop and valve. Yes you can usually swap between the two methods without changing the preparation times, agitation etc.

I have another question:
USP sample preparation for residual solvents specifies that the sample is weighted into a volumetric flask and then transferred to HS vial.
Will simply transferring the sample directly to the HS vial and adding water to achieve a similar concentration be any different?

How different it is will depend on how similar the concentrations are. In particular how do you plan to measure the volume of water, and/or the final volume of the solution ?

Headspace vial is not a volumetric flask :)

Hi,

use class A volumetric flasks to measure the water.

I sterilize the HS vials at 600 degrees so even if they were graded the volume might change after sterilization.
