Reasons for Using Flat Tubings on UHPLC

I am attaching a picture of a commercial UHPLC pump head. Does anyone know the reason for using such a design? It is intriguing.

Note the flat S shaped tubing going from mixer to the pump head.

You have pump that can run up to 1200bar so a lot of heat is generated during solvent pumping.
This S-shape flat metal "thing" is heat exchanger.

Yes, you're right. Flat "tape" between MCGV and valve is Inlet Weaver.
I thought the question was about highlighted part of pump.

As Tomasz said it may function as dissipation of thermal effects accomanying mixing ACN with water - althou I always thought this effect is negligible.
My guess is that it is a low volume mixing chamber, probably with some fancy internal architecture.
