Dear all,
we are using Agilent 1200 series HPLC systems. Recently we got a problem like "Initializing fails in the pump module”. We found that there was a fault in "Pump assembly drive (Part No: G1311-60001)". We contacted Agilent service engineer for repair. He suggested us to change " pump assembly drive" which costs more. Is there any possible way to repair this....?
Hello

You need to check if it is really pump drive.
What you can do is to remove pump head and check metal springs in pump head as well as plungers (perhaps spring or plunger is broken).
During initialization there must be some resistance from pump so you can see this error if spring/plunger are defective.
Optionally you can try "cold start" procedure which you'll find in manual (you need to change switches configuration at the back of the pump). Perhaps it'll help.
Good luck :)

WTF??? I'm having the same problem with Bin. pump, 8 years old, yesterday it stopped working, with initialization failed, + some servo motor error. After opening the Pump, I found out that the motor which drive the pump has to much of resistance. I have contacted Agilent about motor, but they say I have to buy complete assembly for the cost of 4K $ .

suresh.v@bioplus.in if you find the alternate solution please report.
We can give a try with warranty at reasonable price incase you are in India (approx INR 50,000)! Do revert back sivaraman_t@yahoo.com.
