Has anybody had success purging water from their SS GC lines? A fault in a H2 generator caused water to enter my lines and I don't want to spend money to replace them. I only have about 20 total feet of tubing, so I was thinking of just hooking up a N2 cylinder and running that at high pressure for a few days.

Any ideas or experience in a similar situation is very much appreciated!

What is the cost of nitrogen compared to the cost of new pipes is question one.

If the pipes are at room temperature it will take forever to dry them out - is there any way that you can heat them up with a hot air gun or even a hair dryer, starting at the cylinder end ?

If you purge the line with N2 at high pressure and for a few days , you will pay more for N2 than the tubing .

Try washing the tubing with methanol or IPA first , may be using a 50 ml syringe , then purge with N2 for a few minutes.

Take care to avoid fire hazard during the procedure.

I clean tubing by dripping acetone down them and then throwing them in an oven for 125degC overnight.
