dear colleagues

we have an old Thermo Trace GC/FID with AS2000 Autosampler that is connected to an "ancient" PC, running on NT4, and controlled by ChromQuest 2.53
The licence is controlled by a LPT-Dongle.

As this system was bought second hand from a company some time ago, we don't have the installation media of ChromQuest here.

Either Thermo nor Merck can provide us the old installation disks (at least they say that).
But a new software version and license would cost about the same as a new second hand system...

The system does it's job so far and for the education of student it's quite enough, so no need for a second system just for the sake of a new software/pc...

Actually everything is still working but if the PC crashes (and also the use of USB-Sticks under NT4 is not that convenient), it would be good to have the installation media on hand.

So, if somebody from the forum has laying around some Disks (or CD) and would be able to provide me those as an archive/image file would just be perfect.
Use a proper back-up software and back-up full first.
yes, I've already made an image of the whole PC as well as from the system partition, but if the hardware crashes, I'm not that sure if the new hardware and NT4 will be working together properly.

So it would be good to have the installation media on hand.
Hi Hollow,

Thermo isn't hiding anything, we honestly can't provide you a copy of (very) outdated software. The current version of ChromQuest is 5.0, and you can imagine if we had to keep stock of every build ever produced, we'd never make any money because it would all be sitting in inventory. If you couple that to the fact that Agilent now owns the code to ChromQuest you can imagine why it's hard to get that build. That being said, you should call the 800 number (800.532.4752) and log a service request call, the staff there can send an inquiry to see if it's possible to pull something out of the archives for you. No promises, but you should definitely ask.

By the way, Chromeleon will control that instrument, I'd consider moving over because it's simply awesome.

Hello Mark,

is there a not expensive way to test a SN4000 with an UV1000 and/or
UV6000LP detector. Just establish connection, doing some essential
tests and read some measurement data ?
Is the communication protocol between PC and SN4000 secret or
available ?

thanks wally
