Good Evening Experts,

I want to separate both of this isomers 2,4 CFT, (i.e 2-Chloro 4-Fluoro Toluene) and its isomer (4-Chloro,2 Fluoro Toluene) which condition or column is suitable for this????

Best regards

Praveen

The boiling points (3C difference) and polarity will be fairly similar so you might struggle. Probably best to start with a DB5 and then if that does not work try something more polar like a DB17.

Conditions would be typical method development..start at 50C then 20C per minute up to 300C with a 1ml flow an adapt from there.

I remember looking at similar compounds many years ago when working a chemist doing halex reactions. I think I was using a DB17 type column but then it was 25 years ago!
