Gas analysis

Discussions about GC and other "gas phase" separation techniques.

I have Trace GC with FID detector, capillary column, where we want to start to measure gas, methane, through the injector in split-less mode using gas-tight syringe. Is this going to work or am i force to use a loop injector? it's for the injection of 100ul calibration gas cylinder.
Have you tried it? Is methane the only thing in your mixture? There's probably no faster GC analysis than methane. You could probably make 10 injections in 30 minutes. Methane is pretty light so it might work for that. Condensation of heavier materials can manifest itself in an apparent lack of precision.

I've always had trouble getting good precision for direct injection of gas samples like you describe. The only way I've ever been able to get the precision I want/need is to use a fixed loop (inside the oven, 40 °C). Even then, you need to be sure that you're making the injection of a sample at atmospheric pressure.
