DS-102 pump oil

After losing yet another Pfeiffer rough pump (the last after less than a year) on our 5975 MS, I've followed a recommendation I saw here and obtained a Varian/Agilent DS-102. A bottle of DS19 oil came with the pump.

Anyone know of a reason I shouldn't use Inland 45 in the pump instead?

Thanks!

Inland 45 is listed as having a vapor pressure of <1x10^-7torr

While Inland 19 is listed as having a vapor pressure of 3X10^-5torr

http://www.sisweb.com/vacuum/sis/inland.htm

I would assume DS19 oil would be comparable to Inland 19 oil so should have similar properties. I would prefer Inland 45 since it should give better ultimate vacuum.

Here is a quick overview of each oil. SIS lists Inland 45 as the best to use for normal MS work.

Interesting. I know they recommend using the oil they shipped with the pump but did you get a specific recommendation from them NOT to use Inland 45?

I've already fired up the pump with Inland 45 and now you're makin' me nervous.

I have write to Agilent in 2011 for use Inland 45 with my new DS102 because with my old Edward pump, Agilent recommended Inland 45.
The manufacturer send me this response:

It’s not recommended to flush all the oil away , then use another oil, too dangerous for the pump. While what they say may be true in the case of other pumps, for our pumps do not use the synthetic or you will risk damaging your Varian (Agilent) pump.

I have been running our Varian HS 502 on my LCMS for 6 years now on Inland 45, haven't had any problems...yet.
