Yttrium filaments in Agilent GC/MS

Discussions about GC-MS, LC-MS, LC-FTIR, and other "coupled" analytical techniques.

Has anyone tried the Yttrium filaments in a 5973/5975 GC/MS? I was reading about them on the SIS website and was wondering how they perform. Someone also mentioned that maybe the lower operating temperature of those filaments might help with the tuning problems encountered when using Hydrogen carrier gas.

Hello James,

have you tested these filaments in the meantime?

Alex
For the agilent GC Filament, I want to know what the differences between the EI filament of 5975C and 5977A are. The agilent service enginner said that one used in 5977A can be used in 5975C. But,the one used in 5975 C should not be used in 5977C.

But the cost for filament used in 5977A are double to triple when comparing that used by 5975c~
Hey James....

I have not heard of the SIS filaments helping with the tune issues when using Hydrogen. They will last longer though since Hydrogen seems to deteriorate filaments MUCH faster.

Thanks,

So far I have not been able to try these, other projects have come up lately. I hope to order some soon though and will report back what I find out.
