Hi everyone,
How can I check a headspace syringe? How can I be sure that gas will not evaporate between plunger and syringe wall?
Hi

I assume you mean the volatiles escaping via the syringe plunger tip.

What equipment do you have? If in doubt replace it and run some qualification tests.
Hi LCbob,
I have a GC-ECD 2010 from Shimadzu with AOC-5000. I replaced the syringe because it was dirty and I was wondering if I can reuse this one after washing it and how can I check if the volatiles are escaping.
Qualification tests means to do an injection of a known concentration standard and check it on calibration curve?

Irina
Hi Irina

Pull back the syringe plunger, stick the end of the needle into an old inlet septum or headspace septum so that the tip is sealed. Push on the plunger - if the syringe is leaking the plunger will move down.
