What the equivalent column for symmetry C8 (150*3.9mm)5um ?
There are two copies of the "hydrophobic substraction" column selectivity database available on the web:
http://hplccolumns.org/index.php
http://www.usp.org/app/USPNF/columns.html

Either one will show you the closest available matches.

C18 is never the same, and same we can say for C8. Every brand has its unique features, selectivity, resolution etc. and it is difficult to get the "same" performance with another column, from the same or another manufacturer. But as Tom mentioned you can check the hydrophobicity tables of different manufacturers or use the link Tom mentioned and try to find a similar column. Why do you want to change???

Seems that, at least by the standards set at those two sites, there isn't a really "close" match...I can't think that an Inertsil ODS-3 is Really a Whole Lot like a Symmetry C8 at all even though they are roughly the same "age" as to when they were released to the market place.

Once, Waters had a brief version of what Dr. Dwight Stoll has at hplccolumns.org...I suppose that Uwe Neue helped to set that up. I tried to locate that at the Waters' site, but failed to find it. Does anyone know if that utility is still available? It may be that it could have a "better suggestion" for an equivalent phase to Symmetry C8.

I'm with Gerhard, too...How's come you want to switch phases? That said, I've switched in my past, but ususally from older-type phases to newer ones in an effort to remove the "need" for ion-pairing.

Hi THNDRacket,

Wow, my thanks...doesn't really matter, but I grew up in Pittsburgh. I still miss it sometimes. Saw a YMC-Pack C8 and a couple of C18 phases, one a superficially-porous one, that are supposed to be close in character to the Symmetry C8, at Waters page.
