UPLC-MS/MS :: C18 Column Efficiency Determination . Test Mix

Discussions about GC-MS, LC-MS, LC-FTIR, and other "coupled" analytical techniques.

We would like to perform an efficiancy test to the column with somenthing more sensitive than the compounds that we search for.
Since we use complex matrixes, it is important to know if the column is beeing able to resolve the matrix mixture that we dont see in a MRM mode.

The column manufacture mixture is expensive and we are out of money at the moment.

Is there a cheap, simple, lab common reagent that we might use to test the columns?

PS. Like Toluene for UV detectors.

Thank you all for your help.
I would suggest looking at the CofA and/or MSDS for the column manufacturers solution to see if you could replicate it (a single component or all components) in your lab.

good reference, lots of tests using solutions made with common lab chemicals - maybe one will fit your needs?

Ideally you want an unresolved compound to test your column efficiency, which depends on the type of C18 column you have.
