Questions about GC

Discussions about GC and other "gas phase" separation techniques.

An informal survey based on a comment from a friend of mine. Humor me if you please.

How many people here have less than 2 GC's in their lab?

How many people here look for 7 compounds or less?

How many GC users use only an FID or TCD?

Curiosity is killing this cat, even though I am a dog person.

Best regards,

AICMM
From one dog person to another: If I might be allowed one smart- ass answer (I fall outside all the other categories) I hope that

I am looking for less than seven compounds, but I first have to work out what they are, or even if they are there for the finding.

Two gas chromatographs with FID only although 90% of the time I am only measuring four compounds.
I do have access to an old GC-MS which I fire up rarely for special projects.

Former (and missing it) dog owner.
One bench GC in the lab, FID, looking for 4 compounds (once I get that project started). One offsite online GC under our care with FID, FPD looking for a whole list of stuff - more than 7.

Cat owner...but teaching the cats to come when they're called has taken a little work :)
I have a 6890 with a 5975b MSD and a FPD that I have no use for and unfortunately I wasn't there when they bough the stupid thing.
I have a 5890 with an FID and may acquire another one for fames or something.
We only have MS or MS/MS (4GC's)
looking for over 250 compounds
We have 2 gcms and look for hundreds of compounds.
1 gc- dual ecd, HAA5's, chlorophenoxy acid herbicides, PCB's
3 gc-ms... VOC, SVOC, CN, etc.
1 gc-ms i made out of spare parts... i put it up on blocks, really, blocks.

Under a shade tree in the back yard I presume
You may be a redneck if you've ever .....
2 dual ecd gc's
4 gc/msd's
2 lc/ms/ms
1 lc/ms
1 lc fluorescence detector ( guess what I do with it)
5 dual ECD GC's
1 NPD/ECD GC
2 FID GC's
5 GC/MSD
