Supplier of Varian/Agilent instrument parts in USA?

Discussions about HPLC, CE, TLC, SFC, and other "liquid phase" separation techniques.

Can people in the USA please tell me if they buy parts (like autosampler needles and syringes, piston seals etc) directly from Agilent or are sales through an third party? If the latter, could you please tell me who?

In Australia we are forced to go through one company for all parts and this arrangement is proving to be a disaster for the end user. A number of us are at our wit's end, and I've volunteered to try and find a way to buy directly from overseas. I'm after a company who can recognise Varian/Agilent part numbers and ship in 3 weeks or less. At this stage, would settle for just the former.

Thanks to anyone who can offer advice!
Hello

Maybe, I know a Europe based company that can do this - If you give me an E-Mail adress, I can forward the contacts to you.

best regards
Chris
Check out suppliers such as Restek and Supelco (Sigma-Aldrich), who probably have local representation in Australia.

Good judgment comes from bad experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.
Phenomenex do a range of consumables and accessories to suit Agilent GC's. We tend to buy most of our consumables direct through Agilent and I'm not aware of any major issues. We do tend to hold a fair stock of spares on hand though.

Edit: Just realised you're talking HPLC. I think they do a range of HPLC spares as well. May be worth contacting them to see.
Thanks for your replies guys. Chris, how do I get you my email address? We can't PM here?

We're ok with getting consumables and accessories.

The problem lies with dedicated instrument-specific parts. I can't name companies, but there's only one we can purchase through in Australia as Agilent has the agreement with them (and Agilent don't sell their parts directly here).

Am wondering what goes on in other countries? With all the problems here, we are experiencing down time on instruments of 2+ months. Once I can understand but I've had this a couple of times and am not alone. This isn't about trying to save a couple of dollars by shopping around but desperation over getting someone to recognise Varian part numbers and then deliver in a reasonable time.

What are we talking about here ? - pump maintenance kits ?, injector maintenance ?, detector bits ? which can be found on the independents' web sites,or stuff like circuit boards for whoch you will have to go through the manufacturers.

Which of the alternative suppliers have you tried so far ?

We have gotten parts through Gentech before along with refurbished equipment. Also I get most of my LC Lamps and pump seals through Restek.
The past is there to guide us into the future, not to dwell in.
Thanks for the replies, sorry I'm slow replying. Have been having a nightmare time in the lab. Chris I did email your temp address within 2 days of seeing your message but presumably that was too slow.

Peter, I'm talking autosampler needles, autosampler syringes, pump piston parts. Basically the sort of thing a chemist can change so no circuit boards. I have tried an alternate local supplier for pump seals and that's ok. But the rest of the gear is very Varian-specific and so even having a correct Varian part number doesn't help.
@ Doryfish

I did already send you a message but I will send it aggain - maybe the spamfilter did eat the mail.
