I am relatively new to HPLC. I will be attempting to separate oligosaccharides on a BioRad Aminex HPX-87H column with a Micro-Guard Cation H+ cartridge. I plan to use the NREL procedure for this separation found here: http://www.nrel.gov/biomass/pdfs/42623.pdf . It uses a 5 mM H2SO4 mobile phase. If this solution is made with water from a millipore synergy system (18 megaohm resistance), do I need to prefilter the solution? If so, what method would you reccomend?
We make up dilute sulfuric acid here using Millipore water and a few ml of dilute purchased sulfuric acid titrant; we do not filter this before use.

We filter when we dissolve a solid in the HPLC solvent.
