HI,
I am looking for a standard method to determined PAHs toatl and indviuidal in a crude oil tank cleaning sludge,I have both techinques Perkin elmir GC/Ms and water HPLC with 3 deferent detectors.
PAHs in sediment can be extracted by methylene chloride by EPA Method 3540 (SOXHLET EXTRACTION) or 3550 (ULTRASONIC EXTRACTION), the extract is then reduced and changed to hexane, followed by a silica gel cleanup (EPA method 3630). You can follow EPA Method 8100 for details.
