Just wondering have you ever heard of regenerated cellulose 0.2um filters shedding material and blocking UPLC columns! Waters whom which we have a service contract with for our UPLC said that they shed material at high solvent sample concentration but if you check most suppliers they all recommend RC for filtering solvents. Just wondering if you ever heard of such a thing?
Are to asking about sample or mobile phase preparation?

I have heard of RC shedding and don't generally use RC for anything unless I have to. I've had success with nylon, PVDF, and PTFE filters for samples. In my experience, all are generally tolerant of high solvent content, but you obviously need to aquaint yourself with the compatibilty of each filter type. What kind of solvents are you working with?

Sometimes for really nasty samples, which we do get with personal care materials, I'll use a glass-fiber pre filter (about 1-uM) in front of whatever other filter I'm using.
