I have purchased individual standards for Omega fatty acids form Sigma aldrich with COA.
I want to know the stability of this standards and the shelf life of the same.
Is this are prone to degradation.
Please put some comments those who experienced in FAME analysis of Omega fatty acids.
The storage conditions and shelf life are specified on the CoA. In a QC system you need to docuument the date that the container was opened, and show the expiry date on the container.

Omega fatty acids are very sensitive to oxygen, UV light, and temperature.

Replace the air in the container with nitrogen or argon and store the samples in a -20C freezer if possible. Warm the container for sampling by leaving out on a table at room temperature. Also avoid UV radiation from windows or lights in the room.

best wishes,

Rod
