Hi Guys,

We have had this issue for a while now and it's becoming increasingly annoying. When using Chromeleon software, attatched to HPLC's (1100, 1200 and even 1260 systems) we find we have an intermittent lag which can cause the software to freeze temporarily for 10-20 seconds. After this the software will pick back up and continue as normal. This can happen every couple of minutes or even more often that that.

We have systems running locally and systems running via server... Could this be to do with buffering data or something similar.

I have no ideas, anyone with some thoughts or experience of this the help would be more than appreciated!!

<-- not an expert...

I'd be inclined to check the acquisition PCs drives to see if they need to be defragged.
Also, check for any new processes (maybe your IT dept. has been pushing new port scanning software, antivirus etc. etc.).
Lastly, check to see if you get normal ping times between the acquisition PCs and server(s).

If none of that reveals anything, check w/ IT to see if they've changed anything...
Thanks,
DR

I recently had an issue with CM7.1, the software requires 2GM RAMM minimum to run and the spec of the PC running it was 2GB RAMM. Basically it was running on the bare minimum.

There was an intermittent issue with the program stalling, a sequence would be set to go, set off running with no issues but then in the morning it had stopped at a random point through the night. Long story short after checking everything on the GC and finding no fault, consultin other analysts to see if they had inadvertently turned it off etc the "fault" was found to be AVG.

Whenever AVG ran a system scan this memory hungry task would compete with the Chromeleon package runnning. Once a new injection was due in the schedule all the prompts and system checks that are done would get held up due to the RAMM deficiency, causing the system to lag and eventually crash but leaving all signs and audit trails showing it was ready to go and just hadnt. VERY frustrating but nothing to do with the GC or CM7.1, just our out of date PC. We disbaled AVG and set the scan to eb performed at a known time when the system would not be in use and have had no issues since.

Have you checked the spec of you PC? Whilst not stalling the system it could be the reason for the lag?
