Hi

I have a waters 717 plus auto-sampler that I am running in an offline mode. I would like to connect it to the Chromeleon data management via a UCI-50 (universal chromotographic interface) from Dionex but have run into a little problem. The data cable has a modified phone Jack connector on the auto-sampler and I cannot seem to find the pin assignment so that I can make a new RS232 cable for the system. Does anybody know how the connections should be made?

best regards

Hi - I am also looking for the RS232 pin map, were you able to find it? Thank you.
We are currently using Chromeleon 7.2 to run our 717 plus auto sampler. We do not have complete control of the auto sampler, but we are able to have it send start/stop signals to Chromeleon. We are using an analog cable to connect the 717 plus to an UCI-100.
I do not have an ability to up load a picture at work but I can give you the pin numbers, signal name and signal level if it will help. This information came right out of the UCI interfaces operating instructions

Looking at the 9 pin port with the 5 pins on top. Pin number 1 will be on the top left, Pin number 5 on the top right, Pin number 6 bottom left and Pin number 9 on the bottom right.
Pin signal name signal level
1 DCD not used
2 RX RS232
3 TX RS232
4 DTR Rs232 Acticve (+10V, Ri=2,7kΩ)
5 GND GND
6 DSR not used
7 RTS RS232 Hardware Handshake
8 CTS RS232 Hardware Handshake
9 RI not used
