Hey everyone,

Anybody out there that has experience running Shimadzu HPLC' s (Prominence) using Empower 2? I am a bit perplexed at which gradient curve (pump B Curve) to use. I want a linear curve and thought that entering 6 would give me a linear curve. The resultant chromatography tells me it is definitely NOT linear. Maybe that is only true using Empower 2 to control Waters HPLC's?
Any help would be great!

Thanks!
Check the pump or controller manual - I'm pretty sure you need a 1 in there, not a 6.
Thanks,
DR

6 is the linear gradient No if you are using Waters equipment
Good judgment comes from bad experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.
Problem solved! The proper curve to use is 0. Shimadzu allows for a curve value from -10 to 10 (thats a lot of different curve types!), so one would assume 0 would be linear. And it is. Same as if ClassVP was controlling the HPLC. The curve of 6 IS only linear for empower controlled Waters HPLC's. Since the driver for the software is released by Shimadzu, this makes sense. I wonder, if the linear curve value would be 6 if a Shimadzu software CDS was used to control a Water's HPLC? Hmmmmmm......
Ah - I was close, anyway. :)
Thanks,
DR
